 SILON International GmbH specialises in all polyolefin pipe applications such as PE-LD, PE-MD, PE-HD, PP homo, PP copo, PP random, crosslinked polyethylene - PE-Xa, PE-Xb or PE-Xc and especially in compounds for the production of PE-Xb pipes, shrinking tubes and profiles.
PE-Xb is the abbreviation for Silane crosslinkable Polyethylene high-density polyethylene for pipe applications. During crosslinking of the thermoplastic polyethylene (PE) the molecular chains are connected to a three-dimensional network structure. This structure is the reason for the outstanding properties of cross-linked PE. By crosslinking, the PE is changed from a thermoplastic to a duroplastic material. Once crosslinked, the PE-Xb does not melt and also keeps its form when heated over the normal softening point of PE. The crosslinking of PE improves the temperature resistance, chemical and stress crack resistance, tracking resistance, ageing resistance and wear resistance. Because of these improvements of the property profile, PE-Xb is the ideal material for pipes for elevated temperatures, e.g. pipes for sanitary fittings, central heating and floor heating applications, heating connection systems, as well as air conditioning systems, transport of gases, compressed air and liquids (including heating oil, acids and alkalies), automotive and shipbuilding applications, as well as for special process engineering uses.

The complete range
SILON International GmbH provides a complete range of Silane crosslinkable compounds with the corresponding catalysts for many fields of application such as flexible, multilayer, coloured and light resistant pipes, as well as combinations.
